Purpose
I am passionate about meeting clients where they are in their health and wellness journey. Whether they are newly pregnant, deciding on family planning options, prioritizing their health at an annual exam or navigating midlife changes, I empower clients to take small, meaningful steps towards better health.
Bio
I grew up as the oldest daughter of two surgical nurses in Peoria, IL. I was always fascinated with all things related to the human body. Throughout high school and college, I planned to go to medical school but was derailed while working as a doula in an AmeriCorps program in Chicago. Midwifery was a novel idea to me. I loved the marriage of art and science in midwifery with the focus on physiologic birth and health promotion. Fifteen years later, I am more convinced than ever that I was born to do this work. I have found much joy in helping countless families enter their new stage of parenthood. Having branched out into midlife care, I am excited to similarly help clients transition smoothly into this new stage of life. While often not straightforward, I empower clients with the science and tools to move confidently through midlife changes. When I’m not at the office or hospital, I love being outside with my husband and three kids in Brookfield, IL.
What’s a midwife?
Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNM) are trained to provide comprehensive care to women throughout their lives, including adolescence, during pregnancy and birth, postpartum, sexual health, primary care, family planning, and midlife care. Nurse midwives hold a Master's or Doctoral degree in nursing with specialized training in midwifery. They are independently licensed and certified, they can prescribe, order tests and labs as necessary and counsel on lifestyle changes.
What’s midlife care?
For many women, midlife gets complicated. It’s a time when they are often raising kids, caring for aging family, navigating career challenges while also experiencing the flux of perimenopause or menopausal hormone changes. The individual experience of these changes varies widely, but can often be profoundly disruptive. I aim to provide evidence-based information and personalized options, working collaboratively with clients to develop the best plan to address their individual concerns and symptoms.
